Alvaro Monteiro Baptista 88, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Thursday December 28th, 2023.

He was the son of Idalina Monteiro of Pawtucket and Manuel Baptista of Pawtucket. Al was the loving husband of Sarah (Gamboa) Baptista and the cherished father of his son Steven Baptista, and his daughters Suzanna Decarlo and Melissa Baptista. He was the doting grandfather of Shontel Baptista and Galadrielle Decarlo, as well as the great grandfather of Ryleigh Baptista. He was the brother of Idalina Leitao, Fracelina De Livramento, Fatima Lima, Gabriel Baptista, Ivone Baptista, and the late Joao Manuel Baptista, Izabela Baptista, and José Baptista. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was born in Brava, Cape Verde, where he worked as a Teacher. He also lived in Portugal and worked as a bookeeper there. He immigrated to the US in the 1960's and worked as a machine operator, property manager, realtor, and as a private duty CNA before retiring.

Al was a very friendly and caring soul. He loved to help others and he loved to make people laugh and play practical jokes. He always had a smile on his face. He was a man of faith and enjoyed living a Christian life and attending church services. He helped as a treasurer for the church. He also enjoyed gardening, coming up with creative solutions to problems, vacations, beautiful scenery, and most of all spending time with family and friends.

We invite each of you to keep Al alive in your hearts. This is not goodbye, but a "So Long" until we meet again.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling hours Friday, January 5th from 9am-11am with a funeral service starting at 11am at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery,
